ABOUT

As an adolescent, I had a clear vision that I wanted to devote my career to the field of psychology.  I was inspired by a psychotherapist who helped me through my parents' divorce. I was struggling, and I needed an impartial, compassionate guide to help me grieve, gain insight about my emotions, and learn to communicate differently with my family.  It was such a gift that I knew I wanted to help others in the same way.

I see life as a series of transitions and developmental cycles- we move through some gracefully and others bring confusion and crisis. During phases of change, it's common to get stuck in the pain of disappointment, anger, overwhelm, and grief. Over the years, layers of unresolved pain build and eventually interfere with our ability to feel joyful, creative, and fulfilled.  Relationships with family and friends, energy for work and daily commitments, and the vital connection to the true self suffer tremendously.

Psychotherapy provides an opportunity to learn to think and behave in new ways enabling us to rise to the challenges that life presents. I provide therapy to individual adults, couples, and families.  I am committed to providing compassionate, competent care with sensitivity to cultural, racial, religious, and sexual diversity.  My warm, direct approach helps clients make peace with the past, be present in the now, and feel more optimistic about the future.
